Flash floods hit 14 villages in Central Sulawesi. One elderly resident is reported to have died. Mystery

Baca Gitu Loh - Celebes, Indonesia - A total of 14 villages in two sub-districts in Parigi Moutong (Parimo) Regency, Central Sulawesi (Central Sulawesi) were hit by flash floods. One elderly citizen (elderly) was reported dead.

"Floods in 2 sub-districts (spread over) 14 villages," said Head of Emergency and Logistics BPBD Parimo Amiruddin as reported Tuesday (30/5/2023).

The flood inundated Balinggi and Torue sub-districts on Monday (29/5) at around 22.00 WITA. The victim who died was named Masi (70) who is a resident of Balinggi.

"Yes, there are victims (dead) and have been found," he added.

The floods occurred after the 2 areas were drenched in heavy rains. The flood was also triggered by the overflow of the river.

"Last night (floods) averaged. The rain started in the afternoon, the peak at 10 pm had started to flood. (Floods) including overflowing river water," explained Amir. ***
