Floods and landslides hit 3 districts in Bulukumba, damaged houses, broken dams, and cracked roads

Baca Gitu Loh - Celebes, Indonesia - High intensity rains resulted in flooding and landslides occurring in 3 sub-districts in Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi, Wednesday (24/5/2023).

The Head of the South Sulawesi BPBD, Amson Padolo, said that floods and landslides occurred in Ujung Loe District, Herlang District, and Bontotiro District.

Amson said that in Ujung Loe District, as many as 29 houses and a mosque were affected by floods and landslides.

Apart from that, the ponds or ponds belonging to the residents overflowed and a cow was washed away by the flood.

"The affected facilities and infrastructure are in Balong Village, Ujung Loe District. The rice fields lacked water because the directional building was damaged by the water," said Amson.

Meanwhile in Herlang District, continued Amson, as many as 14 residents' houses in Sappang Hamlet, Borong Village were affected by landslides.

In addition, facilities and infrastructure were affected by the landslide.

"The road body was cracked 36 meters long, the 35 meter cracked talud of the road, the walls of the bridge 7.5 meters long and 1 meter high were damaged," he said.

Still in Herlang District, continued Amson, an access road bridge was closed by a landslide connecting Gunturu Village and Bajang Village.

Meanwhile in the Dandea Neighborhood, Tanuntung Village, facilities and infrastructure affected by the landslide were roads buried in landslides 20 meters long and 8 meters high and 30 meters of cracked roads.

"In the Banyoro Neighborhood, Tanuntung Village, the facilities and infrastructure that were affected were the 42-meter flat road embankment and landslide materials that closed the 74-meter-long road body as high as 15 meters. 15 meters high by 5 meters," he explained.

Amson added that as many as 2 houses were affected by the landslide in Bontotiro District, to be precise in Bonto Suka Hamlet, Bonto Tangnga Village.

"In the disaster in 3 sub-districts in Bulukumba Regency, there were no casualties. The team is currently conducting an assessment," he added. ***
