"The number of residents' houses damaged by the tornado disaster was recorded as many as 16 houses spread over two villages, most of which were damaged in the mild and moderate categories," said the Chief Executive of the Belitung BPBD, Agus Supriadi in Tanjung Pandan, Wednesday.
The tornado natural disaster occurred on Wednesday (17/5) at 14.00 WIB.
According to him, currently the Belitung BPBD Rapid Reaction Team (TRC) is collecting data on residents' houses affected by the tornado.
"We are still carrying out sweeping and data collection on residents' houses that were affected and damaged," he said.
Agus said, the affected areas due to the brunt of the tornado were Air Raya Village and Air Ketekok Village.
"Meanwhile, the area most affected by the tornado was Air Raya Village, one of which is Jalan Serma Abdulah," he said.
He added, apart from collecting data, the TRC BPBD Belitung also helped residents repair the roofs of houses damaged by the incident.
"At one point or at a resident's house we left three officers to help evacuate and repair damaged roofs of residents' houses," he said.
Even though it did not result in any casualties, the incident caused material losses estimated at tens of millions of rupiah.
"I remind residents who are in disaster-prone areas to remain vigilant because natural disasters can occur at any time without being noticed beforehand," he said. ***
